We invite you on Saturday and Sunday September 25-26, in Cluj-Napoca at Casa Tranzit / Tranzit House (str. George Barițiu 16), to a special event in the series The Berlin Link, within the program “How do we talk about Queer culture?”:- Saturday, September 25th, 8PM – Hyenaz performance and talk with theorist and activist Nóra Ugron about art, extractivism and ongoigness from a queer, decolonial and posthumanist perspective- Sunday, September 26th, EXTRACTIVISM reading groupThis event is free & in English.HYENAZ are Berlin-based sound and movement artists Kathryn Fischer aka Mad Kate and Adrienne Teicher. The immersive performances, dance tracks, soundscapes, performative installations and a/v works they produce utilize the sonic shape-shifting of field recordings gathered in the process of site-specific works.For the past seven years, HYENAZ have undertaken a music, performance and sonic research project entitled “Foreign Bodies.” At its core, Foreign Bodies is a slow movement journey that explores relationships of bodies in motion and bodies in resistance and interrogates the notion of the “foreign”. They have visited refugee camps, squats, and intentional communities—prisms through which to examine the ways in which bodies move and collaborate in relation to, in resistance to, and despite management and control of their bodies/movement. In a series of audio visual works and performative interventions, HYENAZ examine and challenge the mechanisms that treat the body as a foreign object: a thing to be managed and controlled, an unknown territory even to itself, an “other” to be feared and annihilated.HYENAZ are currently entering the research phase of their 4th work in the Foreign Bodies Series entitled Extraction. Extraction examines extractivist practices in art and specifically within sonics and field recordings in order to develop better accountability practices.Nóra Ugron (RO) is an intersectional feminist and antispeciesist activist, as well as an activist for housing justice in the Social Housing NOW! movement based in Cluj-Napoca. As a translator, editor and researcher she actively facilitates critical knowledge production. She is a member of several radical left groups such as A-casă collective, Meduza Kolektiv, Free Pages publishing collective, the EAST network, LeftEast and the ELMO network.She works to build resilient communities and networks of resistance, based on mutual care and comradeship in the region, and she believes in a queerfeminist, decolonial, anti-capitalist and liberating future. She bases her poetry and her artistic work on the feminist statement that the personal is always political. By transforming her own experiences, desires and emotions into art, she tries to create fictional spaces where all bodies, human and non-human, have the opportunity to manifest as much as possible free of oppression.The event is part of the project “How should we talk about Queer culture?”, co-financed by AFCN and curated by Mihaela Cîrjan. “How should we talk about Queer culture?” is a collateral project to TRIUMF AMIRIA – The Museum of Queer Culture [?].This cultural project is co-financed by the National Cultural Fund Administration.
